Mutual Funds

Open a New Account

You can open a mutual fund account on the same day by funding the account electronically.

To open and fund an account on the same day, choose Automated Clearing House (ACH) funding in Step 6 of the General Mutual Fund Application.

Your application must be received by Lord Abbett before the New York Stock Exchange closes (generally 4:00 p.m. ET) in order to receive that day's closing price and must be in good order.


You will receive a "Welcome" e-mail from Lord Abbett within 24 hours of account activation if they provided their e-mail address on the account application.

If no e-mail was provided, please contact a Lord Abbett representative.


To set up an account with a transfer on death beneficiary, step 1 of the General Mutual Fund Application must be completed.

A Transfer on Death (TOD) account allows you to transfer the account to a beneficiary without the costs or delays of a probate proceeding. You can designate a beneficiary(ies) and authorize the transfer of account ownership upon death when establishing a new account.


To open a nonretirement account, complete and mail in the General Mutual Fund Application.

Make Account Updates
To change an existing beneficiary designation or add a new beneficiary to an existing account, complete and mail in the Transfer on Death form.

To add check writing to the account, please complete and mail in the Enroll in Check-Writing Privileges form.

Send Lord Abbett a letter stating that the person has now reached the age of majority and that the account should be re-registered in his/her name, along with a copy of the teenager's valid photo ID such as a driver's license or passport. The letter of instruction should be signed by the custodian of the account.

You may add or update banking information by logging in at the My Account page. Once you have logged in, you will be able to add or update banking information.

The bank account linked to their Lord Abbett account can also be changed by completing and mailing in the Bank Authorization Update form.


Execute Transactions

The executor or beneficiary of the account will need to fill out the Mutual Fund Distribution Due to Death form.

Please note: Lord Abbett will not need an original or certified death certificate if the form is Medallion Signature Guaranteed. Lord Abbett will need an original or certified death certificate if the form is Signature Guaranteed.


You may exchange between funds in your account by logging in at the My Account page. On the Portfolio Overview page, click on the Fund Name that you would like to exchange, then click on Your Fund Detail.

You may set up a systematic redemption on your account by logging in at the My Account page. On the Portfolio Overview page, click on the Fund Name, then on Your Fund Detail.

You also may set up a systematic redemption by completing and mailing in the Systematic Distribution form for a Non-Retirement Account form.


You may set up systematic purchases on my account by logging in at the My Account page. On the Portfolio Overview page, click on the Fund Name, then Your Fund Detail.

You may also set up systematic purchases by completing and mailing in the Systematic Purchase form.


You may set up a systematic exchange on your account by logging in at the My Account page. On the Portfolio Overviewpage, click on the Fund Name, then click on Your Fund Detail.

You may also set up a systematic exchange by completing and mailing in the Systematic Exchange Authorization form.


To change dividend options, you can log in at the My Account page. On the Portfolio Overview page, click on the Fund Name, then Your Fund Detail. Under Take Action, click on Dividends & Cap Gains Options.

You may also send Lord Abbett a letter of instruction that provides us with how you would like to treat your dividends and capital gains (reinvest/cash). The letter will need to be signed by all applicable shareholders.


General Inquiries
A 1099 is produced only when the account produces $10 or more in total dividends.

You may order a duplicate statement by logging in at the My Account page. On the Portfolio Overview page, click on the Fund Name, then on Your Fund Detail. Under Take Action, then click Statement.

  • Account balance—You can view your account balance online at your convenience any time of the day.
  • Dividend and Capital—You can view your history of capital gains and earned dividends earned in your account.
  • E-delivery enrollment—You can enroll in e-delivery and receive an e-mail with your prospectus, fix tax forms, annual reports, statements, and daily confirmations. Lord Abbett provides a history of three years worth of quarterly Statements and tax forms.

You may check your average cost basis by logging in at the My Account page. On the Portfolio Overview page, click on the Fund Name, then on Your Fund Detail.

You may reset your password by clicking on Forgot Password, and then you will be prompted to enter your User ID.
